    yes, that would have been useful ;)  48 kHz at 24-bit, which i
imagine is nothing so drastic that would change your (or other's)

    all the responses have definitely helped.  thanks to you, Steve and
Niel for taking the time to respond.  i will definitely go with LVM for
the flexibility on my audio drive based on your recommendations.
