Here [1] somebody say that it is possible (see the last post).

However, there are some alternatives that you can consider if you
haven't any OCS controller for Ardour:

The first one is to run ssh -X to raspberry and run the GUI on your
laptop. When you close the GUI, ardour will exit.

The second one is to use only jack over network on raspberry pi and
keep ardour running on your laptop.

The third and last alternative, can be run Ardour normally on the
raspberry using a local GUI (yes, you must run Xorg on the rpi) and
connect to it using such remote control like VNC.
