Uh, I worte a feature request regarding this about 3 years ago,
although my proposed solution looked a bit different - see
http://tracker.ardour.org/view.php?id=2405

An overview window wich lists all unused playlists would be even nicer -
with "select all" and "deselect all" buttons and individual checkboxes
for wich playlists should be cleaned.

While I regularly use the dropdown menu and only in some cases need the
dialog, for me this patch would only be partly useful, but I would have
welcomed some better sorting of port names and such. But I guess this
won't go into 2.0-ongoing anymore, as it is in feature freeze, and in
A3 these things are addressed otherwise. Although I'm not sure if I
really like A3's port matrix that much for connecting individual
tracks. As a general overview it's nice though. But this should be
discussed separately, I think. ;)

But yeah, you should really put things up on mantis. ;)
