    i am no Debian/Ubuntu/apt/dpkg expert, but i believe you will need
to find a JACK 1.9.7 .deb package.  when you install it, it should
upgrade JACK and remove the old one.  usually best to stick with your
distro's package manager if you can help it.  look into Ubuntu Studio
and its associated PPAs.
