No. same thing.

It just depends how you usually start jackd. Most PPL do that via qjackctl.


Note, however that the ~/.jackdrc file may be overwritten (qjackctl does
that if Setup->Options->Misc->"Save JACK config..." is enabled.)

The ~/.jackdrc file is used by the libjack autolaunching mechanism.
qjackctl settings can be exported to ~/.jackdrc. However, ~/.jackdrc is
not really a settings file, but instead a script that starts the JACK
server.

You can also configure jack in /etc/default/jackd (on Debian/Ubuntu) or
/etc/rc.d/jack-audio-connection-kit on Arch-Linux, use the LADI-tools,
or jackdbus (~/.config/jack/conf.xml),... All roads lead to Rome.
