i personaly (unoffical) would not expect that input problems get solfed 
with ardour3. this sounds more like a jack thing... can you describe 
your problem you had with ardour2... in more detail.
(i hope i am right when i say that ardour3 has no new audio 
input/output/recording/playback-engine ... )
