well, afaics the idea of the whole issue was to inform poeple whose
workflow has depended mostly on closed-source applications about the
possibilities of free software.
i think it's an excellent idea to include a (somewhat) dissenting
opinion (which presents very valid reasons for not going open source
from people who have created a product in a class of its own).

it can and should be discussed (which is what for me journalism is about
- to present a broad range of facts and views and to foster public
discussion).
but then let's discuss behler's points - not ways to evade this
discussion altogether

but we should come up with a proper forum to do this, so as not to annoy
the hell out of the mailing list subscribers who this is being
cross-posted to. if there is interest in continuing this, maybe we can
start a page on the cec wiki? jef?
