I think you're absolutely right Brett.  The resistance is mostly
psychological; not legal or financial or technical.  If nothing else, I
think my thread has shown that it would be technically feasible for Paul to
impose a charge of this kind without breaching his obligations under the
GPL.  I'm not implying for a minute that he'd want to do it - but if I were
in his position, I'd have no hesitation.....  :-)

If users don't agree with compulsory charging (which I can understand, even
though I don't agree with them) maybe they should do something about it and
make a voluntary contribution this month - especially (as Brett pointed out)
if they're making some money out of Ardour or if they've never made a
contribution before.

Let's see if Ardour can reach its target....  at least once!!
