Not agreed. Too many times there have been problems whether things get
removed from portage before the replacements marked as stable in
portage are truly stable. Anyway, it's not a huge problem. Much worse
for me is the desire of portage maintainers to remove things from the
tree when there is no real replacement. Portage maintainers generally
think a higher rev number means better. Unfortunately if the package
maintainer decides to remove features we users get hurt and Gentoo
then makes you start maintaining your own tree which I have to do
here.
