Hello all,

I am just back from a recording session, which was, ahem ahem, not so nice.
At some point, ardour 0.99.3 started spitting tons of error messages,
and shortly after, it segfaulted every time I hit the record button.

I could help myself by (temporarrily) removing some tracks and by
dropping some of the playlists I had recorded this evening (I
preserved a snapshot, of course).

Now, back at home on my desktop, I saw the message "too many files"
at the console, and indeed, after issuing "ulimit -n 2048" I am
able to open the snapshot. At the moment, I have about 700 wave
files in my sounds-directory. Could it really be that ardour
tries to open each and every take simultanousely? (or should I
suspect some other cause of my problems)?

Any hints, explanations or pointers geatly appreciated,

Hermann Vosseler
