[ardour-users] too much open files??

I am sorry to say that this is in fact how ardour 0.99.x operates.
Ardour 2 now uses a much better approach and this is no longer a
problem.  That said, you're solution is the correct one, and if you
need to go higher than your system allows, you can increase the hard
limits by editing some system configuration files (which I don't
remember offhand).

Hopefully within the next month a stable beta version of ardour2 will
be released....
