It sounds like you're seeing the opposite behavior I am - you probably
just need to normalize the final exported cut to a higher level.

I use normalize to do this in batches - it's a command-line app that has
lots of normalization modes and options.  It's fast, easy, and very
useful.  http://www1.cs.columbia.edu/~cvaill/normalize/
