[ardour-users] Poor noisy little sound ....

Hi all, and thanks to all contributors for this great soft

My problem is :

When I record sound on a track, I get a very distorded sound with at a very 
low level. Importing a wave file give  the same effect ...To note : before 
importing the wave file, auditioning is possible with a good sound ...

Other way, lauching Ardour with a very lowlat on Qjackctl, give an error 
message telling Ardour cannot ativate jack client ...

My hardware is capable, I think : bi-Athlon 2200, 512 MB Ram, SCSI 160, 
Hoonteck DSP24 + ADDA 2000

The software is a Mandrake 9.2 based Live CD, intalled on HD (SCSI), named 
APODIO .... I tried other distro like "Demudi 1.1.1 Live CD", based on Debian 
for the same results

What's wrong !? Please help a poor newbie rather in Linux than in 
audiosoftware stuff lost in the middle of wires and coding lines ...:-)
