It has been some time since I looked at this, last I did building a
universal version of GTK was not an easy task.  Seperate PPC and Intel
builds on their respective archs weren't bad, but universal was difficult.
It seems you have had better luck and I really should take another look.

In as far as your specific questions I would need to look into the code to
answer it and can probably only give as good an answer as you already
have;)  Just interested to hear you built it as a binary, how big did that
come out to and debug or non-debug?
