And would any of us be part of a quantity purchase that depended on a
closed source driver for the Fireface? Probably not so many.

I believe the issue, as discussed on the RME forums a few years ago,
is not that RME doesn't like Linux. they like Linux just fine. It's
more an issue that they will not release the intellectual property
required to completely support the fireface family into the Open
Source world.
