Actually, all the activity you've been seeing has been on ardour2
branch, there has been very few changes to the "stable" 0.99x branch
that would affect most people.

The CVS of 0.99x does have a few fixes (can be counted on 2 hands) and
is stable.  The real question is whether you feel like trying out
Ardour2 from subversion (or the ardour-2.0beta8).  Much has changed
but lately it is just about as stable as 0.99x.  That said, if you do
decide to try it, make sure to make backups of your session file(s)
before loading/saving in ardour2.
