that turned all out to be a dead end, because the ALSA dice driver produces
annoying noise during playback, which is a known issue for some devices (has
something to do with the device not exactly producing the number of samples
defined and no clock to compensate for that).
so i checked out FFADO and finally got that to work! it also took a while,
because for yet unknown reasons my default user doesn't even see the audio
device (only via sudo), but a new user i just added to the system and the
"audio" group can. mysterious. but what the heck, it feels great to record
with this huge board :D
