There's nothing special, I'm just using this and other suffixes for 2 reasons:

1. I don't need to edit the bootloader config each time I upgrade a kernel.

[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ grep vmlinuz-linux-rt /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg
    LINUX ../vmlinuz-linux-rt-pussytoes
    LINUX ../vmlinuz-linux-rt-persianrug
[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ grep upgraded\ linux-rt /var/log/pacman.log | tail -1
[2017-03-28 16:52] [ALPM] upgraded linux-rt-pussytoes (4.9.18_rt13-1 -> 4.9.18_rt14-1)

2. As a mnemonic, for e.g. the kernel used to test an audio interface or to remember the kernel I used first, when I switched from AMD to Intel.

[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ grep presonus\ \( /var/log/pacman.log
[2016-12-24 08:12] [ALPM] installed linux-rt-presonus (4.9_rt1-1)
[2017-02-19 19:16] [ALPM] removed linux-rt-presonus (4.9_rt1-1)
[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ grep celeron\ \( /var/log/pacman.log
[2017-02-19 22:16] [ALPM] installed linux-rt-celeron (4.9.11_rt9-1)
[2017-03-08 06:39] [ALPM] removed linux-rt-celeron (4.9.11_rt9-1)

No.

[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ lsusb | grep N
Bus 002 Device 007: ID 1235:8201 Focusrite-Novation
[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ aplay -l | grep 18i20
card 4: USB [Scarlett 18i20 USB], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ amixer -c 4 controls
numid=3,iface=MIXER,name='ADAT Validity'
numid=4,iface=MIXER,name='Clock Source'
numid=1,iface=MIXER,name='Internal Validity'
numid=2,iface=MIXER,name='S/PDIF Validity'
[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$
