So I rebooted with: -p256 -n4

And No More Crackling Noise.  Under the same conditions.

Have toc heck if latency is OK to be able to record acoustic guitar
while wearing headphones.  That was the problem in the first place
which needed an optimization of the kernel and various other params
(again, thanks to everyone for helping)

Now, is there any benefit in having say, 8 buffers instead of 4, of
that size ?  Or 16 buffers of size 128 ?  Does it have any influence on
latency ?
