Mixbus in an incredible product, from a company that has deigned industry leading EQ modules Compressors, automation and mixers since the 1970s.

A rich working environment, and as a longtime member of this list, (? over ten years that's pretty certain )
being able to load an Ardour session into Mixbus is like a dram come true.
It , and Renoise are two commercial things i truly love!

Mixbus and Ardour are not "closely coupled" in the sense that an Ardour release does not imply a Mixbus release or vice versa.

But they are closely coupled in a technology sense, in that most new features that go into Ardour go into Mixbus (and vice versa, other than the things that are represent the design choice differences between the two applications). So if you see something new in Ardour, you can be more or less sure that it will show up in some future Mixbus release, unless it conflicts with Mixbus' design goals.

I spent over an hour scouring through their website a month ago trying to find if the plugins would work with Ardour or if i needed to buy Mixbus.  I found that Mixbus supports LV2, but I couldnt find if the plugins were LV2.  This is good news!
And I absolutely agree on supporting companies that support open source projects, with the caveat that they provide a useful product.
But I still have 1 question, does Mixbus closely follow the latest Ardour release?  Or do they trail behind the latest release?

I got an email as a Mixbus owner that Harrison Consoles has a sale on the
full collection of Mixbus plugins.  I'd been frustrated with a number of
plugins lately(*), and since I had some money in the studio budget, I sprung for
them, and I sure am happy I did.

If they were Mixbus only I'd have been OK with that, but I'm really happy that
as long as I have my LV2_PATH environment variable properly set, they work
in Ardour 4.7 perfectly.

I like supporting companies that support open source projects, and I
like when the two worlds play well together.  Thanks!
