[Ardour-Users] a completely frustrating experience so far

Hi Martin,

open a terminal and run aplay -l .

After a reboot your Tascam sometimes might be the default device card 0
and sometimes it might be card 1, resp. card n.

In /etc/modprobe.d/ perhaps is a file named alsa-base.conf or similar.
If not, then create one.

In a terminal run sudo your_favourite_editor's_name .

I guess at the bottom of the file you most likely need to add

  # ALSA module ordering
  options snd slots=snd_usb_audio

but perhaps the card does use another driver instead of snd-usb-audio,
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/TASCAM_US-122 , if so, then replace
snd_usb_audio with this driver.

Are you using the Ubuntu Studio meta packages?

What's the output of the commands

/etc/init.d/rtirq status

uname -a
