[Ardour-Users] Ardour 4.0 rc3

Testing here on Ubuntu 14.04.

No problems so far, only one minor thing: when I duplicate an audio region *and
then* open fader automation, the 'mirror' waveform of this duplicated
region sometimes does not show up in the automation track (see screenshot).
The missing waveform does show up after I do something like splitting the
region, or altering the automation track's size.

A few other general impressions / comments:

* In Ardour 3, a single click sufficed to create a new automation point in
Object mode (now called "Grab" mode). I see that this behavior has been
moved to "Draw" mode. In the new "Grab" mode it is still possible, but
harder, to create new automation points (only possible when the mouse is
moved directly over the line, when pointer changes from "hand" to "cross").
Would it be a problem to keep the previous behavior in Grab mode? (that is,
a single click anywhere on the automation track creates a new automation
point).

* Tooltip text for "Internal Edit Mode" says "edit notes and gain curves
inside regions". This seems to suggest we should be able to edit gain
curves (Region Gain) in that mode, but we do not see Gain Curves when in
Internal Edit Mode. The only way to see and edit Gain Curves is in Draw
mode.

* I like the concept of Draw mode as the go-to place for both track
automation curves and Region Gain curves (thus abolishing the old "Draw
Region Gain" mode).

* Echoing a previous poster, I would also miss "N" as the out-of-the-box
shortcut for Normalize.

Looking forward to this release! Thanks for all the work put into it.
