[Ardour-Users] Function to freeze tracks

I don't know but is there a function to freeze a track or will there be one?
I remember Cubase SX3 where there was one. It's to save the current track in its actual mixing state and the single whole track will be converted into a wav-file. Plugins are disabled then and you only can do things like fader or fader automation.
It's just to save DSP load in big projects.
