1) For the OP, not having to remove any package that is part of most
common Linux distros.

One less step to do. And for a possible newbie, one thing less
confusing. Just turn it off. No dpkg --purge --force-depends. I'm
exagerating (maybe).

2) Still having the possibility to use both.

At work I have jackd and jamin to listen to music. I much like the
extra touch jamin adds, especially with not-so-good-headphones. But
then, I also use firefox and may listen to videos, technical or
otherwise.

Hmmm... That is, if the machine is used solely for that. And if the
user is too lazy - like me - to reboot in another OS for listening to
youtube videos or for that matter, using the Chinese learning software
that pronounces words.or anything else that does not use jackd.

As Paul replied, it can be possible to do this with ALSA but, I'm going
along with the fact that most popular Linux distros uses PA. And I'm
not a PA fan, but I very much like to make it as easy as possible
(both in concept and practice) for any people new to Linux.
