Hi there.
I think this is an off-topic mail. I have no other idea where to ask
this. If you know a better place to ask for it I will appreciate the hint.
I have the responsability to build a only-free-software recording
studio. The choices in Software are very clear for me: Ardour as DAW
and Audacity for waveform editting. Instruments and effects will be
mostly a LV2 thing.
My doubt is in Hardware devices. Some days ago a good pair of users in
IRC give me some advices and I want to ask it here to have more
information.
They recommend me the Focusrite Saphire (because the preamps). I asked
for a more "mixing console / surface control" thing, so they recommend
me a RME a RME Fireface. Boths appears to have a good support in Linux
Kernel.
For mixing I think in Harman Soundcraft GB8, Mackie 2404-VLZ3 and a
Behringer Xenyx XL3200 (here is where my search for advice begins)
For Surface Control the Mackie MCU (I have read it works good with
Ardour3) ¿any better one / different one recomended?
For monitoring a MAudio BX speakers and a AKG K702 for reference
headphones.
The price is NOT the problem (besides saving money will be important),
the most important is to use the right proffesional combination to a
first Free Software Studio. Maybe more will be built if this
experiencie works.
Any advice will be very appreciated.
Thanks and excuse the off-topic.
