The binary bundle of Ardour does not require ANY libraries from your
distribution except X Window and glibc. It doesn't matter what they did to
any part of the system (wel, maybe excluding the video driver as well).

Compiling from source is actually HARDER than using the binary bundles
because you either need (a) 2.7GB of source code to be downloaded and
compiled or (b) your distro to provide you with the right versions of
rougly 70 different libraries.

The binary bundle from ardour.org will Just Work (TM), and if it doesn't  I
will make sure it does (within certain limits).
