[Ardour-Users] Ardour 3 - xruns and segfaults

I happily purchased ardour 3, but unfortunately it turns out to have severe problems with my setup.
The same setup that has run ardour 2 for years without any xruns now produces lots of them. Starting ardour 3 is enough and the xruns come without any other action on my part. Additionally I get occasional segfaults, especially when opening previous (a3) projects.
I tried switching from jack2 to jack1, but this was even worse as ardour got disconnected from jack every other minute. Increasing Periods/Frames did not help.

My setup:
Debian wheezy
M-Audio Audiophile 24/96
jack2 (1.9.8~dfsg.4+20120529git007cdc37-5)

Jack settings (qjackctl):
realtime
Frames/Second: 256
48 kHz
Periods: 4
(latency 21.3 ms)

As I don't need really low latency I am not using a RT-kernel (could this help?)

I am not familiar with debugging, please explain what I can do to find/fix the problems.

Thanks in advance!

p.S.:
It's a quadcore AMD Phenon and has 8 GB of RAM.
