debian here, AMD64, flash plugin works with rarely^2 random crashes since
2009.
the tar.gz you download from adobe contains libflashplayer, just put it in
the firefox plugins dir

cassiel at jimi:~$ find /usr/ -iname libflash*so
/usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
