the downside of jackrecord or timemachine is that you need to trim the 
beginning and end. i find it easier to mix down to, say, a six-channel 
ardour track, then copy those single wavs out of the interchange/ 
directory, resample and convert them if necessary, and merge them into 
an interleaved file with sox (with a script, obviously).
