I know different synth, from different ages, what should be and what
really is, are two completely different things. Note, that there are
even synth that can't be used with running status.
Some very good synth e.g. the Prophet V originally don't have a MIDI
interface, even if the retrofitted interface should understand MIDI
standard, there's no guarantee that the technology of the synth will do,
what it should do. A lot of musician still have got several survival
kits for those old synth, because this synth are needed, so you can
expect that people will use old faithful synth with Ardour3 too.
Winecountry and others might be sold out, but again, those survival kits
still exists, so those snyth will survive for a while.
You not only will prefer CEM microchip based analog synth to soft synth,
but also e.g. FM synth such as the brown DX7 in the metal case to e.g.
Hexter or any modern stand alone synth. Their sounds are much better,
unfortunately their MIDI implementation isn't good, regarding to some
issues. Neverending notes are a wide spread issue.
