In my opinion, the easiest way is using layers.

Right-click on the region and select "choose top layer".  This will open 
a dialog that allows you to select the layer that you want to be "on 
top" and therefore hear.  This is a great way to comp a vocal track 
together.  Just record several takes of the same thing; then, starting 
from the best take, split out words or phrases and use the layer 
function to quickly cycle through the takes on that word/syllable until 
you find the best one.  Once you've chosen the best takes, overlap the 
regions slightly to make a seamless crossfade.
