FWIW, I just spent the past two days recording my efforts with ams,
hydrogen, jackeq.
I was able to capture almost 10 hours of perfectly recorded data without
any dropouts and not one single crash from ardour even though I managed
to crash ams at least 50 times from my tweaking adventures. I couldn't
be happier with the experience. I am now moving on to editing all my new
tracks and looking forward to the unlimited audio tracks, busses, sends
and inserts unlike almost all the other crippled paid software options
that are comparable.
Ardour is definitely worth supporting financially and IMO it should be
made *more* obvious with donation facilites built directly into the
interface so people who only use it from a precompiled repo package are
still aware of the community expectations for financial support.
In fact I donated some money right now just for the hell or it ;-) Got
10 bucks out of me. 1 for every hour I recorded.
BTW, it's looking like another good month for donations this month.
Congratulations!
Things seem to be significantly better financially than this time last
year. That painful discussion in Jan 2009 was worth it I guess.
