yes, all the files i'm importing in each session are the same length and start at the same point in time, so start-time alignment is all i need. 

but drag'n'drop?? i'm a command-line addict, and use "mc" as my file manager, so hadn't considered drag'n'drop. can you actually get a bunch of files to drop (in a predictable order) onto a bunch of different tracks, all at the same point in time in Ardour that way?

i guess i'll just go and try it....
