You really should do the importer-project. If you now have another 500 files, 
chances are high that there will be even more files in the future. And the laws 
of effective programming says that such trivial but repetitive tasks really 
have to be done by the computer, not by the human.

And there might be public interest in such a script:-) Maybe even inside the 
ardour source tree...
