I was holding off upgrading JACK because of the command line
changes (no -R etc.) as well as the more "user-friendly"
start up behaviour on the newer versions. I've been doing a lot of
recording and editing and didn't want any new or unexpected
behaviour. This problem with the "non-existent" ports is pretty
disruptive though, so I might have to reconsider.
