C* plate is a decent reverb, at least to  my ears. 

I just installed the (free) linuxdsp plugins recently and these look
quite good. I'd say linuxdsp's JP1 is essential to save and restore
Jack connections. Patchage is easier to actually set them up though
(you should probably refresh JP1 before saving, just in case). Ardour
can't always save Jack connections on its own.

Freqtweak is my favourite toy right now. My first experiment created a
subtle, ambient, sparkly-tinkly kind of sound which rises up in the
background behind an acoustic guitar, triggered by the louder guitar
parts. If you like to experiment with sound check it out.

PS: you can use freqtweak and other apps as if they were plugins by
hooking them up to an Ardour insert.
