If such a 'thing' isn't enabled by default, people tend not to use it,
so it should be enabled by default, but regarding to data protection the
user always must be informed BY A BIG WINDOW ON TOP before any data is
read and/or stored and the user always must have the option to forbid
reading data.

To get better information about this, e.g. to know how many people do
use Ardour and how many don't donate etc. a form with some questions
would do the job.

IMO enabling by default is okay, but anyway there has to be a warning
window including checkboxes. Full ACK, if such a window is closed by
e.g. 'enter', this has to be a NO.
