It's also possible to disassemble the binary code, by using an 
Disassembler ;).
And it might be, that the open source includes binary parts ;).

Watching a short binary code by an Disassembler can be easier to do, 
than reading a long open source C code.

It's very relative.

What does non-free for a source code mean? You are allowed to see the 
whole code, but not to change it?

Seems to be a strange thing.
