I'm using GVerb, and I could see that having denormals in long 'verb tails.

Everything was off; load was at 20%.

Turned on DC bias, no affect (no pun).
Turned on DAZ (in addition to DC bias), no affect.
Turned on FTZ, no affect.
Turned on DAZ & FTZ, saw a couple occasional drops to 9% CPU.
Turned everything back off, load shot up to 30% and stayed there.
Turned DC bias back on, load went back down to 20%.

Sigh....
