[Ardour-Users] Processor load on ardour

Hi,

I have been using athlon XP 2400+ till few months ago and never had problem
with ten tracks, but FX could get you into trouble too. I usually put a
comp+eq chain on every channel and several sends.

As others pointed kernel real time (low
latency<http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Low_latency_howto>)
capability it's fundamental to avoid xruns or overloading your cpu.

I now run an ATHLON 64 X2 DUAL-CORE 5200+ with 3GB RAM with a terratec DMX
fire. Actually mixing a 14 tracks demo with several plugins and never
experienced xruns, latency is 5.3ms in duplex mode.
