If you are referring to the setting I believe you are, yes it has solved
problems for me anyways.  I have some software in OS X that would not
register the correct number of channels(Wouldn't register more than 2) with
Jack until I set that.  Since this is software designed for theater
playback, it comes a bit important to me.  Sadly it is not Open Source so I
cannot make it use Jack natively, and since most people that use it don't
use Jack, it is not likely to be added any time soon.
