i was running the 2.6+svn3929 package from the ematech repo (http://archive.ematech.fr/) and was seeing the symptoms of Mantis issue #2402 (dragging gain envelop segment makes it fall to -inf). i had occasional crashes, but not directly related to changing gain envelopes, afaik. that was on a T61P thinkpad, running ubuntustudio 8.04.

i've just done a dist-upgrade to 8.10, and have compiled ardour myself (2.6.1-4010) on this machine. issue #2402 is indeed solved, and things have been solid so far.
