[Ardour-Users] Ardour doesn't play

The first output regarding locked memory is due to the entry in
/etc/security/limits.conf so edit that file. You will see something like:

@audio - rtprio 65
@audio - nice -10
@audio - memlock 256000

Change it to reflect something similar to the following:

memlock 512000

or:

memlock unlimited

You have to read up on JACK and xruns, plus a lot more. Basically depending
on hardware, you'd get different results with different settings. In short,
virtualization is _not_ going to work. Reliance on virtualization has become
too much of a trend to the extent where it's a bad idea to even implement.
There are things like Wubi and the new Ubuntu coming up which will make
installation retard-friendly (meaning dead easy) so I don't see a point in
VMs.

Get QJackCtl, click on Settings. Try
out Periods/Buffer of 3 instead of 2, and then increase the
Frames/Period until you reach a stable environment
(0 xruns while idle). Good luck and enjoy!

P.S: Make sure you're not using Ardour as a music player =P
