the other approach is to select a time range, then convert it to a
region in place, then do a time-constrained copy-drag to another track.
the difference is that this leaves your original playlist with more
regions than it had before - you can't hear the boundaries (much), but
they are there, and ardour does not have ProTool's "heal separation"
function to "undo" the cuts that were made.
