control surfaces are really the only thing fit  this "wish list".

the items in question are generally expensive and big. the main item
right now would be a Mackie Control Universal, which costs about US$1000
and is the size of a small mixing console. i think there are better ways
than tapping out the user community for cash to provide one of these to
get some work done.
