[ardour-users] Problem building ardour from src

I just downloaded the most recent cvs-tarball and tried a fresh rebuild.
The result is very much the same, the last lines are:
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.5/../../../../i586-suse-linux/bin/ld: `.gnu.linkonce.t._ZN13StringPrivate11CompositionC1ESs' referenced in section `.rodata' of gtk_ardour/ardour_ui.o: defined in discarded section `.gnu.linkonce.t._ZN13StringPrivate11CompositionC1ESs' of gtk_ardour/ardour_ui.o
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.5/../../../../i586-suse-linux/bin/ld: final link failed: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
scons: *** [gtk_ardour/ardour.bin] Error 1
scons: building terminated because of errors.

I do have a complete build.log in case that's of any interest.

BTW: How do I get ardour2 to try that ?
