I have a USB mic, but I don't use the .asoundrc...
I use the -C (capture) and -P (playback) options with jack to set which
devices are used:
jackd -R -d alsa -C hw:3 -P hw:2 -r 48000 -p 512
(hw:3 is the usb mic, hw:2 is my soundcard)
The USB mic I have is a samson co1u, and seems happier at 48K.
