Hello all,

is there some sort of maximum length of timeline ardour can handle?
Or ist there some known problem with sessions lasting several hours?

I am using Ardour 0.99.3 on AMD64 / debian testing

Recently, I did some recording sessions (pipe organ) for a CD production.
The recordings were at 96kHz, so I had to change over to a new file about
every hour (just stop the transport and re-start it again) to work around
the known filesize limitation.

Normally, when recording, the "end" mark gets just moved to the right to
accomodate the newly added material. But about the point when we got around
10 hours of material, ardour started to behave wired: the zoom behaved strange,
when dragging a reagion it jumped unpredictable and often leaped off to
position=0 and newly recorded material got placed above already recorded takes.
Thanks to ardour working non-destructiv, all of this didn't hurt and as a short
fix I created a new snapshot, removed the earlier takes and moved the new
material to the left, so I could continue recording as usual.

Now I want to assemble all takes into one huge session (of about 16 h duration),
in order to be able to sort the takes and then to start cutting. But apparently,
I am not able to reach any point beyond 11h on the timeline. I can't drag the
end mark further to the right, because it won't follow but jump to a seemingly
arbitrary position to the left and I can't paste any region to any point
more to the right. Even if I edit the session XML and put a larger number
into the "end" mark position, ardour won't honor this but change it to some
smaller number, as if there was some sort of wraparound going on.

Has anyone alredy observed such behaviour? Is there a known workaround?

any remakrs, hints, pointers greatly appreciated.
