So these would be the results (from your answers),

1 - There are people who have experienced problems with Via chipsets (and
USB through Via)
2 - And also with SiS
3 - So far Nvidia isn't "stable"
4 - Uli could be a good choice but we don't have enough info (right?)

In case I would forget chipsets 1&2&3 I could choose between those:

* Intel -> 865G + ICH5 (PIV )
