WAV format is defined in the specifications as little-endian, ie: there is 
-officially- no such thing as a big-endian WAV file. 
Similarly AIFF is (I think) defined as big-endian by the AIFF specification. I 
might be wrong about that though. Or it might be against the spec, but some 
apps use little-endian AIFF's anyway. Wouldn't be the first time that an 
official format specification is ignored.
